About Idaho Kiwis

My name is Gerri Sayler, a sculptor and installation artist from Moscow, Idaho.

I’m visiting New Zealand with my husband, Kenton Bird, who directs the School of Journalism and Mass Media at the University of Idaho. He was invited to the University of Waikato in Hamilton to be a scholar-in-residence in the Department of Screen and Media Studies from January to June 2010.

While he’s researching community newspapers and other media topics, I’ll be soaking up inspiration from the arts, culture and landscape. My other assignment is to chronicle our South Pacific adventures in words and pictures.

I wish that I had figured out art as a way of life as early in life as you. I wish you all the very best. You have much talent. Stick with it. It is a beautiful way to experience the world and life.
